Still Waiting!

I am STILL waiting for the Tribute ES I ordered in February. I have had the VIN number nearly a month. The ETA has changed from the first to second week in July to the fifth week in July (A kind way of saying first week in August?) Now they say that there is some hold up with the installation of the sun roof (not an add-on but factory intalled) Anyone else had this problem?

I wonder how all that stuff works....<br><br>Mine was build the week of 9/5, got to the port 9/18, left the port 9/19, and then I got it 9/27 (it arrived at the dealership late 9/26). I'm in the Washington DC metropolitan area.<br><br>I wonder why some cars get into and out of the port quickly, and others take a while longer. Heck, I wonder what the port is! :)<br><br>Good luck. From what I read over in the Escape site is that production of the 2001's is complete and the 2002's are ready to start production. Also there is a hold on 2002's with the sunroof's awaiting a redesign to fix a problem with a potential leak.<br><br>I am looking on confirmation on this as I hope to order one soon, and won't go with the sunroof if there is a longer wait.

I ordered my ES on Feb 21 and received it June 22. I was also told 5th wk of May which Mazda Customer assistance explained was the first wk of June (the 5th wk is not a full wk). <br><br>However, have you spoken with Mazda directly? I ask because my dealership had different dates (way different dates!!!) than Mazda. My ES left the Plant in the first wk of June just like they said and was delivered to Port about 4/5 days later-however, there was a 10 day wait from Port to delivery to my dealership. BTW, when Mazda told me that it was at the port and should be expected in about 10-14 days, I called my dealer and left a message for a callback. My dealer called (I guess expecting me to complain about the wait) and said OH I have good news-they have assigned a VIN to your ES and we are expecting it in about a month or so. Imagine his suprise when I advised him the VIN was assigned a month and a half ago and it is already at the port-I just wanted to know if there was any paperwork I needed to bring when I come to pick it up in about a wk. DUH!!!<br><br>My delivery date changed 2 times (orig late May)-once with the ABS screwup and then with the recall regarding the steering column. <br><br>Lily11224

I ordered my Tribute on the last day of January. I finally got my VIN number at the end of May and was told it would be built during the second week of July. I called at the end of June and found out that the build date was pushed out to the 5th week of July (sound familiar?). Mazda confirmed this date. I never found out why the date was pushed out. Maybe the sunroof would explain it.<br><br>I just hope they come soon.

at least you will get a 2002 model. I keep wondering If the trib I ordered in early feb would have gone the same route as your order.

I called Mazda Customer service on Monday and a very nice "MaryAnn" told me that my Tribute was loaded on either a truck or train on that day and due to arrive at my NY State location the firth week in July. She also said that if I called again later in the week, she would give me the exact date that it will be at the dealership. I called MaryAnn again today and her response is "I have bad news, it will not be at the dealership until the second week in August"!! When I asked what changed, she said it was probably the fact that Mazda and Tribute are no longer putting Firestone tires on the SUVs and the tires would have to be replaced. I could not get an explanation of where they would be replaced. It seems odd that it would take two weeks to change the tires! And this is still a 2001 model. So I'm STILL WAITING!

I called Mazda on Tuesday and they said my Tribute was in port being inspected (hurray! It exists). They expected the inspection to finish this week and then get shipped out with a ETA of August week 1. I'm hoping that it comes in a week early. I've got a brother getting married on August 4th and it would be fun to show the family the new set of wheels. I'll have to call tomorrow to see if my date has slipped also.

dont buy that firestone BS - the changed brands long ago.

They've been coming in around here with Continental brand tires for two months already!

I picked mine up a month ago and it was delivered with continental tires as well. <br>As a matter of fact my dealership had 2 shipments sitting side by side. The previous weeks shipment had firestones while the new shipment had continentals....<br><br>Lily11224

Hey Tibsomday, What did you hear when you called Mazda about your Tribute. was it enroute. I called my dealer today and he said they are "remaking it and it will not be made until the second week in August with a delivery in September." I've had it, I'm contacting the Sales Rep personally and then I'll decide whether I cancel my order all together!

what exactly does remaking it mean?<br>when was your original order placed?

About 30 minutes after I posted my message my salesman called back and said he "read the wrong VIN number" and he is still checking my order. Of course it was 4:00 on a Saturday and I will have to wait until Monday when the dealership opens to get any type of answer. I ordered my original vehicle (an LS) February 9th. In May, I <br>changed to an ES which was scheduled to come in earlier (first to second week in July!) ...and I'm still waiting!

Hi, sorry I didn?t get back with the info. I was bogged down computer trouble (self induced as usual). <br><br>I called Mazda and the customer rep I talked to was about as worthless as an automated operator. Even with my prodding, all she could tell me is that my Tribute is due at the dealership the second week of August. The customer rep I talked to the time prior gave me all sorts of information on my vehicle.<br><br>The next day I called my dealership and talked to new car sales manager. He checked on the status and found that it was in the rail yard ready to be shipped and should be here somewhere between the 2nd and 10th of August. The sales manager mentioned that he actually had two other Tribute orders that were older than mine! Mine was ordered on Jan 31.<br><br>I?m not sure, but I think Burlington Northern Santa Fe will be shipping my Tribute. As of today, they show no record of the vehicle in their VIN tracing utility. <br><br>Boy, what did they do to you?!! Remaking your Tribute? What happened to the first one? I sure hope they don?t pull that one on anyone else (myself included). I guess I won?t feel good ?till I?m in my Tribute driving down the road. In the meantime, talk to your sales rep. Hopefully it?s just some type of mix-up. With any luck we could be both zooming around this August.
