I dropped my Tribute off for some work yesterday morning and was given a VW Bug for the day to run my errands around Milwaukee. To make a long story short, by the time my Tribute was done with the recall and oil change work it was snowing. The 1/2 hour drive took me 2 hours. by the time I headed home, about 1.25 hours normally, it was really snowing and lots on the ground but doing the drive in my 4X4 was much better then the ride in the bug. Other cars were in the ditch but I made it home just fine! I've always wanted a Bug but this year in Wisconsin, a 4X4 is really nice!

You're not one of those people who thinks that because their vehicle has 4WD that they can drive normal highway speeds in snow, are you? Well, before I delete myself I'd just like to say I think SUVs are evil, especially the giant ones like the Ford Excursion- although I don't much care for the Tribute either because of the way it's advertised. I dare anyone to drive their Tribute like a Miata and see if they don't end up wheelside up. But in my experience, SUV drivers seem to be more apt to road rage and poor driving; I think it's because the size and elevation of the things give people an invincible feeling that tells them they can do pretty much whatever they want on the road (i.e. run red lights, neglect turn signal usage, cutting mere passenger car drivers off for fun, etc) safe in the knowledge that they probably won't be affected by any accident they cause. Not to mention people like our friend here who thinks it's ok to drive normal speeds on snow covered roads just because you have 4WD (which, by the way, won't help you stop any faster on snow).
