Okay, I know that the dealers are trying to make
money, and that's why they recommend you bring your car
in for service according to a schedule that they
make up. It's so far off from the manufacturers
suggested maintenance schedule though. I took my car in at
10,000 miles for an oil change. They said I needed basic
service which was $89.95, consisting of oil change, tire
rotation, inspection, etc. I went for it like a dummy. Now
it's been about 6,000 miles and I took the car in the
other day for an oil change. The service writer said I
needed an intermediate service which was $189.95. I said
no, just change the oil. What a rip off! I had just
had the minor service done 6,000 before! I asked her
why it needed so much service, and what the intervals
were, and she said every 3,750 miles it needed service
(either oil change or another service). I think this is
ridiculous. If I just go by what the owner's manual says, I
will be okay with my warranty, right? According to the
manual, not much needs to be done except changing the oil
and rotating the tires until the mileage gets pretty
high. How is everyone else handling the service on
their Tributes?
