I just got back home from having the original
equipment Firestone Wilderness HTs replaced. They had only
13,000 miles on them, but my wife and I just found them
to be extremely noisy, especially on concrete
pavement and the rural roads we run on out here in the
country. They were replaced with Cooper Discoverer HTs in
the original tire size (P235-70R-16). The difference
is very noticeable....much, much quieter over all
types of road surfaces, and noticeably smoother riding.
The "out-the-door" price here in NC was $400.75 and
includes lifetime rotation and balancing every 5,000
miles. The tires are treadwear rated at 60,000 miles.
They can be mounted two ways: with raised white
lettering on the outside, or standard black lettering on
the outside. I stayed with the black
outside.

I have gone exclusively to Cooper for replacement
tires in recent years. I have found them to be very
good quality, made in the good old USA, at a
reasonable price. For example, a set of Michelin Cross
Terrains would have cost $639.00.

In addition to
the Tribute,I have used Coopers on these cars that
I've owned: '92 Ford Taurus Wagon; '93 Toyota Corolla;
'94 Toyota Camry; '95 Chrysler Concorde; '98 Honda
Accord; and my current '99 Toyota Avalon.

If you
are in the market for replacement tires, check them
out. Their web site is coopertires.com.
