Production date

Could anyone tell me specifically what the production date is? I called Mazda corporate and gave them the VIN# on the Tribute ES that I ordered. They gave me a production date of March 5, 2001. What actually is the production date? The customer relations rep couldn't give me a straight answer but the vehicle should be delivered by the second week in April.

when did you place your order?

I originally placed my order on December 1. I was told a few weeks ago not to expect it until late Spring. My dealer called me 2 weeks ago that he was working a swap with another dealer who had a loaded ES in the color I wanted. That dealer's order was placed back in October sometime.<br>My dealer said he was given a delivery date of the first week of April on this car and Mazda corporate said yesterday it was due in the second week. Again, just curious as to what the production date actually is. Is it the start date, the date the put the VIN# in the car or what.
