To get to the filter, do you have to remove the screws(fasteners) directly on top of the windshield? I'm not talking about the false screws on the pan closest to the engine, but the ones higher up and aft on that same plastic cover. If yes, how did you do that? Just pop those small plastic circles out with a small common screwdriver? Thanks for the info. I want to be sure I know what I'm doing so I don't break something like I did the gas cap holder pin.

Yes, you have to remove the small black plastic discs (a small screwdriver or knife tip will flip up one side easily and then you just pull it off). After that you remove the 4 phillips head screws, and then there are 4 plastic pins that you have remove. NOTE: The instructions in the air filter box are very explicit and will cover everything you need to know.

In fact, it tells you to move the windshield wipers to the vertical position and have the hood closed to remove the plastic discs and four screws from the plastic fascia below the windshield, THEN raise the hood to access the other four pins and the air filter receptacle.

Believe me, you'll have no problem at all with the instructions that come with the air filter. In fact, the same can be said for the instructions with the hood deflector, very good, easy to understand instructions in clear english (no poorly translated Japanese instructions).

BTW, Muroc, are you flying a B-2?

Murocflyer:

Yes. There are 4 caped screws at the base of the windshield that have to be removed in addition to the screws under the hood portion. If you have a set of those small screwdrivers like are used for eyeglasses repair (only not quite that small), and just pry gently, they should pop right off. The instructions that come with the filter are very precise. If you want to have a look before you buy the filter, your first step is to turn on the wipers and quickly turn off the ignition when the wiper is straight up. With the hood still down, pop off the screw caps and remove the screws. Raise the hood and remove the remaining screws and just maneuver the plastic cover out and voila! Pollen filter holder! You shouldn't have any problem.

Tom
