Little question for all of you ... Just filled up
my Tribute LX-V6, which I am driving since last week
and has 250 miles on it, I got about 14 MPG ... Does
it get better than that?? Is it normal that it is so
low at the beginning??
I have an ES-V6 with 2200 miles on it now and I'm
getting 20 miles to the gallon (22 on the road) and I'm
hoping that it just gets better. I did not even
calculate the mpg until I had over 1000 on it..you just
disappoint yourself!.....and I keep zoooooooming! Great car,
no problems!
You bet its BAD in the beginning....Mine got
13....Same model...Another thing is we are still getting
into the floor board a bit when you are next to
another "ute" in traffic....bad habit of mine...I am
soooooooooo wrong to do that. Specifically you should NOT
drive it jack rabbit style for the first 500 miles and
vary the speeds...some highway, some city....AND from
500 to 3,000 gas mileage will improve with each tank.
There is NO ADJUSTMENT whatsoever for the idle and
mixture on Tribute/Escape vehicles. It is ALL computer
related. IF YOU are like me in so far as you do push the
gas pedal a tad bit at times...go higher on the
octane. 87 is the minimum and if you are high terrain
above 1000 ft, go at least 89. I run 90+ in any DOHC V6
engine...can't go wrong. My last Mazda lasted driving like new
to over 180K...and I sold it still running it hard
but doing ALL oil changes and maintenance on time....
