Hmm... it's been quite a while since I posted but I want to give some information on what could possibly be the official fix to our Fuel Smell woes...

I dropped off the Tribute off yesterday morning to get the fuel gauge fixed (it was supposed to get it fixed last Mon. but instead they replaced the electric adjustable seat, long story...), I also asked them to look at the Fuel Smell Problem and then gave them the official TSB that was posted on the Ford Escape Club's gallery, they said they would call Mazda Headquarter's with the information.

I came back to the dealer in the afternoon and got the Trib back, they also gave me news that they had called Mazda Headquarters and had found a "recall," ordered the parts and that they would have them soon. The invoice reads that a fuel pump (AJ03-13-35XB) and new gasket (EC01-42-166) was ordered. BOB, the gasket(s) on your invoice are different, are these numbers the correct replacements? Or, are they only the same gaskets on the Trib right now?

I wasn't able to get any documentation on the "recall" but my dealer told me to rest assured that it's there and that there is a fix, don't know what to believe. But, at least everything seems to be going in the right direction, for now at least.

Yours are just "internal" numbers at the dealer....don't worry. I'm of the belief you CANNOT get anything but the correct gaskets at this point. Now that may have been a concern back when I got mine done as the part number still referenced BOTH the new and old with Mazda because mine had been special order....MAN this gets confusing...especially at almost 3a.m.

bob
