My accelerator was a bit touchy when it was new, but that cleared up well within the first 1,000 miles, and I haven't had any difficulty with it since then. I hope yours loosens up soon.

Raustria, with 240 spanking new miles on my loaded ES I have not experienced anything less then startling acceleration responsiveness. In fact everything runs and works perfectly. Except for an occasional wind noise it is an absolute pleasure to drive. And I still haven't filled the tank yet.

I've noticed the same thing with the accelerator. I haven't regularly driven an automatic in about 8 years so I thought maybe it was just me.

It isn't a problem for me with fuel mileage, I just feel like it is hard to get a smooth start in many situations. Once it starts to accelerate though there is plenty of power.

I wonder if there is an ajustment that can be made to the accelerator pedal. It really just seems like there is too much play in it.

-Brett-

So any luck with the wind noise. I get it as well. Have you been locate exactly where it's coming from. At first I thought it's from the side mirrors, but I think it's more from the internal gutters, right next to the windshield.

I would think there is some type of adjustment. I've only taken it to the dealer where I purchased the car and they told me that there is no adjustment. I may take it somewhere else to get a 2nd oppinion.

Raustria, I haven't tried to tackle the wind noise issue yet. I too feel that it is not the mirrors but beleive it to be the door gap just above them. Trying to pinpoint noise in a moving vehicle can be misleading. When I have a chance I will have my wife drive while I use a short piece of hose in my ear to isolate it. Much like what you would do to find noise in the engine compartment.

This wind noise is rather odd in that it comes and goes at speeds over 45mph. That is another reason for me to beleive the cause is crosswinds passing over the A-piller door gap. If that is the case than there is little we can do.

I did notice that after driving 45+ mph in the rain and then parking it in the garage there would be beads of water remaining on the upper part of the door just behind the A-piller. This is telling me that this small (~6in) section of the door is a low air pressure area which may be causing air turbulance, hence the noise we are experiencing. This area is where air from the windshield is moving up and outwards joining up with straight on air. All of this is pure speculation on my part but what the hey, it's worth what you paid for it.

Besides, I didn't join the EAA for nothin'! :-))

Tribby

Just back from a trip to Akron, OH (from Southern Maryland) and did quite well in the mileage department. Filled up in Akron and made it all the way to Frederick, MD (310 miles) and still had 1/4 of a tank left (I would have held out longer but my wife goes into a panic mode if the I go below 1/4 of a tank). It took only 11.06 gallons and that comes out to 28.02 MPG!!! I still can't believe it. The only other possibility is the gas pump readout was incorrect but that would mean the the station is giving out more gas than we're paying for, NOT LIKELY!! Even with some city and highway, I calculated 21 and 23 MPG throughout the trip. This is all after my fuel smell repair 2 weeks ago and no smell at all on the trip, so everything still holding tight (900+ miles since the fix with fingers still crossed).

Tom
