Is My Tribute Popping Corn?

I've been noticing lately, that when I turn off my ignition and get out of my Tribute, that it makes a popping crackling sound. Kinda sounds like as if it were popping popcorn or like light rain drops hitting against the window. The sound sounds as if it is coming from underneath the truck. I don't think I've ever noticed this on other cars. Is this something to really be concerned about? Anyone else experience this? (Hoping this is NOT my first real Tribute problem.)

My Tribby also makes these noises. I think the sound is coming from the exhaust system and the heat shields as they start to cool and contract. Some cars are more noisy than others because of how the components are designed.

I took it to the service center because this same noise was coming from the driver side door. In addition, it comes from the bottom like everyone else. The bottom is in fact the exhaust, and I don't think anything can be done about this. However, They couldn't tell me why the driver door also had this popping noise.

The popping noise you can only hear when you drive 65mph or above. Very strange but annoying.

Any suggestions from anyone?

I know mine makes more of a sizzling sound but, I presume, that is from the condensation of the AC falling onto hot pipes and the like? It's very apparent if I've been running my vehicle quite a lot and with the fan kicked up a bit. And being from Phx, the AC can get kicked up a notch or two during the summer/fall.

I noticed the same sizzling noise, and looked underneath the car. Yes, it was water fromt he AC dripping onto the exhause (I guess). I don't think it's anything to worry about, just scared me a little the first time I heard it.
