Crank Position Sensor

Hello. let me start by saying that I am new to mazdas and to this forum. I have a 2004 mazda 6, 2.3. bought the car 1500 dollars knowing that it had problems. bottom end of the motor was shot, so i bought another used motor guaranteed to run. put the motor in plugged everything back up. Now i have a problem. the motor will crank, it will start on ether but it will not stay running. it is throwing codes. p0335. CKP sensor circuit malfunction. i tested the sensor as to guidlines and it seems to be workig properly. i also used the sensor off of the bad motor with the same result. I tried erasing the code and after one crank it reappears. i checked the wiring from the sensor all the way to the computer for breaks all looks well. any opinions/suggestions on what to check or how to fix this? thanks in advanced.

I have a crack in my tail light, and want to replace it. I like to be a little different, so I was wondering if the "bubble" style lights from the 2007 models will fit the 2003 housing. They look the same on all pics, and the mounting holes look like they line up. I was hoping to find out for sure before I purchase them. Thanks!

I just purchased used on eBay a set of Koni shocks & springs from a R Package with about 30k miles on them. Question is : how do I check what they are set to? Referring to the 'softer - firmer' rotating knob, a local specialty shop suggests I rotate the knob all the way one way then all the way the other way and count the number of turns, then back it off one half the number. This should set 'neutral' then fine tune by driving. Any other suggestions?

My 1995 Miata has been sitting for about 2 years; it's now time to get it running & legal again.

I've drained out the old gas & put in new.

New battery, but for the most part, the engine won't turn over. When I turn the key I usually get a single click, then nothing, acting like the classic bad connection at the battery. I've cleaned the terminals until they're bleeding, but still no go. ONE time, it turned over and started, but not after that.

I've also jumped it from a running pickup, but the Miata behaves the same.

Has anyone had similar experiences (with a solution?)

Thank you,

kaygee

2001 Tribute Dx 2.0l Manual Transmission Problem

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem when shifting (manual transmission) with my 2001 Tribute DX. In fact, whatever speed I'm driving in and at whatever RPM, if I press on the clutch pedal and keep it this way, my RPM will increase or decrease (according to the engine speed I was) to about 2,000 RPM for maybe two seconds or so before going down slowly after.

The other cars I had, whenever I would press on the clutch pedal, the RPM would go down right away, so my guess is it's not normal that the engine speed even go up when I press the clutch and get to neutral. But if I'm at a stop (0 mph) and I press the clutch pedal, it doesn't happen, so it is only when the car is moving at maybe 10 mph and over.

So what should I be looking for ??? I have absolutely no clue what could it be.... The car has been doing this since I have it, so maybe 10 000 miles.

Thanks in advance for any input !!!

Problem is I cannot figure out how to disengage the cable grip? (black round thing) that is bolted to the engine just above the shift lever so I can bring the cable up to view.
The newer-style frameless wipers look pretty cool and spruce-up your ride on a low budget. They also work awesome - really quiet and wipe clean (be careful not to get really stiff ones or you may experience some contact problems). You may want to look into "Trico NeoForm Beam Blades" which are very flexible and work well on both flat and curved glass (and reasonably priced for a top-of-the-line blade). They come in 20" for the rear on 2004-2008 6 hatchbacks and also in all the various sizes for the front on 2003-2010 6's. You can find them online. Head unit is good, because I can transplant it into another vehicle and it works fine. Checked all fuses both interior & main fuse blocks all good. One ting left is TNS relay, which I will replace today. Any other suggestions or ideas? This is for a '91 5 spd. Thanks in advance!

Hello All,

After a recent oil change the technician said my oil pan had a leak and would require replacement. He said the cause was most likely from corrosion from roadway salt used during the winter (I live in Vermont). Installed quote was for $410. I was wondering if the pan was made of aluminium and therefore wouldn't be subject to rust/corrosion and perhaps the oil pan gasket is all that needs to be replaced? Also, if the pan needs to be replaced, is it something a can do easily? I've changed oil myself in the past, and I would not be intimidated by having to remove an oil pan, clean it up, replace the gasket etc. as long as there isn't some difficult surprise/challenges.

Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

ssrex9

FORD VIN numbers need

A request to all list members.
I would like to request in the interest of locating any missing body
style codes that members send me their Ford cars VIN number.

I received some communications from a lady in Europe, by the name of
Fleur, that is a self confessed Capri nut.
She has graciously sent to us the Ford Capri VIN decoding sheets
from her owners manual.
I have placed them on my website for download.
The knowledge she has passed on is very much appreciated.
It seems Ford in Europe were using letters in VIN codes to represent
body styles in the 1970's when we here in Oz
were still using numbers, such as 33 for the Falcon GT. I always
believed that numbers changed to letters after 1981 or around

abouts depending on where in the world you were. The date codes for
the various nations didn't all change over at the same time.
They were

1979-1980 Europe changes over to the new WMI VIN system.

1980-1981 Argentina changes to a new VIN code system.

1981-1982 Australia and Mexico changed over at the same time but
they used different codes between 1979 and 1985.

Argentina
1978=U, 1979=X, 1980=Y, 1981=A, 1982=B, 1983=C, 1984=D, 1985=F,
1986=G
Australia.
1978=U, 1979=W, 1980=X, 1981=Y, 1982=A, 1983=B, 1984=C, 1985=F,
1986=G
Europe.
1978=U, 1979=W, 1980=A, 1981=B, 1982=C, 1983=D, 1984=E, 1985=F,
1986=G
Mexican.
1978=U, 1979=V, 1980=W, 1981=Z, 1982=A, 1983=B, 1984=C, 1985=F,
1986=G

And Ford Argentina, well, they dropped,
JUMPBRAGCKDELYST
they went to,
HSXTABMKEUGRGPMCFLRJXSBKATRJNSYUHFPLPBGALFTEDCNH

How's that, different isn't it.

So, the new code we have, EC, is that for the European Capri.

E= Capri
C= Coupe

Fleur has several Capri's and the VIN numbers she has sent to me are,

Climate control buttons

Salutations,

I have a 1995 Millenia with a rebuilt engine, it runs solidly but
there are a few niggling issues.

First: the climate control buttons seem to work when they want to.
Getting the 'auto' function to work is a hit or miss affair, so I
leave it on.

Second: the control arms to lower the wind vane for the sun/moon roof,
are broken off at their point of connection to the vane, necessitating
that I manually hold the vane down when closing the sun roof.

Third: the gearshift button that you must depress to engage the
tranny, is broken.

Are there "relatively inexpensive" fixes for any or all of these
maladies? I don't relish the prospect of paying the dealer to pull
the dash in order to replace the climate control switches and I was
quoted $82.00 for the gearshift button.

Thank you
