IMO, Masks are a No, No!

Masks can ruin the paint. I'm not saying that they won't save the paint, but unless you are meticulous about keeping the area under the mask clean and dry, you can get paint discoloration from water damage and paint removal from chaffing if dirt or sand gets under the mask. My personal preference is to NOT use one and just keep the front end clean and fix stone chips as they happen.
