Headrest holes and side airbags!!

I have an ES with side airbags, which means I have leather seats too. It was built in 12/00. I have the holes for the headrests to slide into. Since Gloobia's was built about the same time as mine, I am assuming that in December they stopped putting them on.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR VEHICLES WITH SIDE AIRBAGS!!

My owner's manual clearly states on page 86 in the last sentence: "To prevent damage to the side air bag wiring, don't place luggage or other objects under the front seats."

I found this amusing since just a few pages earlier they said to store the headrests there.

I guess this means that they probably shouldn't have eliminated the holes because where else are the people going to store the headrests.

Maybe the people who have side airbags get the holes and other people don't. That was just a thought that I had while typing this. Maybe someone who has side airbags and no holes can disprove this theory. Otherwise, they just cut some more corners to save money.

Let's see... no headrest holes, no mysterious cargo area straps..... If I call and complain, do you think they might send me a backpack? :)

I'd be afraid of what Mazda might say if you asked them where you should stick the headrests.

Ouch!

The straps are in the useless cubby if you don't have the fancy smancy stereo....Didn't know if it was clear because there are straps available for the cargo area.

Speaking of cargo area....if anyone has a cargo net, unclip it when you put something under it instead of trying to lift the net and put the item under...I learned the hard way with my computer, the cabinet is really tall and it caused the clip to come out of the net. I had to dismantle the net clip and reinsert it OR claim it under warranty. It was definitely easier to fix...

bob
