Gear Shift Cable Removal

I want to disconnect the shift control cable from the transaxel so I can look at the bushing on the cable. This is an automatic transmission. Problem is I cannot figure out how to disengage the cable grip? (black round thing) that is bolted to the engine just above the shift lever so I can bring the cable up to view. Anyone know how to get this thing out?

I just changed the same cable for my 01 tribute. The black cable grip is not bolted to the motor. It is actually the bracket that is connected to the motor. The grip actually has two release buttons on the bottom section of the black grip. This job was best done with two people. While my friend went under the car and reached up with a pair of pliers to squeeze these two release buttons, I jiggled it from the top, while pulling. It finally came out. I could not get this done by myself. I frustrated myself for about an hour before asking a friend to help me. ONce you can get those two buttons squeezed on either side of the black grip, the whole mechanism will slide through the hole of the bracket. Hope this helps.
