I've read several articles that say the Tributes gas mileage is less than stellar. Can you give me some ideas on what is avg for around town and on the road driving?

Also, does it perform ok on 87 octane fuel?

Thanks,
Rut

In Los Angeles, I get 24+ mpg with 100% highway driving, 14-16mpg in nasty stop and go traffic. I wish city miles were better, but oh well.
LX V6 7200 miles

I use 87 octane and it seems to be fine.
My mileage was not very good at first, but I now have 6500 miles and am averaging 23 hway and 17-18 city.

Hi Rut, I've had an ES 4WD since last Nov., and have over 19K miles on it now (and enjoyed every mile I must add!)

The gas mileage made a drastic improvement after the 5,000 mile mark. I now get 20-21 mpg around town (suburban, not the big city bumper-to-bumper stuff), and 24-25 mpg on the highway, IF I keep it around 70mph. The 80+mph cruising cuts the mileage down to ~22 mpg. This Air Conditioning makes little difference on the fuel consumption.

I also add one bottle of fuel injector cleaner about once a month and that does seem to help the mileage also.

Hi Tenn Tribute! Can't believe you have 19K on your Tribute....mine just turned 10K...and still enjoying every minute...I also get consistent gas mileage very much similar to what you quoted! Hope your vacation was good...Tennessee is beautiful...we are coming down next year on the same weekend..this year over 400+ Miatas were at the gap...Mitee 1 is coming down year! zoom zoom

I run mine on regular just fine. I get about 26 mpg. (Canadian gallon) which is about 23 US gallons at 70 mph. The in-town mileage does suck.

I haven't checked lately, but even over 5k miles, I rarely break 20. It is better with all highway, but nowhere near mid-20's. Around town I'm probably 16-17 mpg.

I still love my Trib and wouldn't avoid one b/c of the mileage. If you want stellar mileage, don't buy an SUV. I miss my Honda Civic mileage, but the Trib is 10 times more fun to own and drive and more useful too.

Jen

I don't check my fuel consumtion, I just fill her up when it gets down to quarter full !.. My last car had great MPG but fuel consumption was not the reason for buying my Tribute.I wanted the power of the 3 liter V6. It's just great fun to drive.
Just enjoy your Tribute !

Near-pure (99+ %) highway driving yields ~21-22mpg @ 70mph, 50/50 highway/city driving is ~18-19mpg, and pure local/city driving is at an all-time-low of 15mpg @ speeds between 20-50mph with frequent short trips and lots of stop & go traffic. When I moved to a new place 2 weeks ago, I loaded that baby up with everthing you can think of (less the bulky furniture and matress) and made multiple short trips between the 2 places, Home Depot, etc. Fuel consumption was about 13.5mpg -- ugh!

'Gotta admit, after I didn't see any improvements past the 5,000mile mark, I just didn't really care that much. I'd be happier if the fuel consumption improved, but the Tribute's really fun to drive! :)

7,000 miles on an ES-V6 4WD w/ all the extra weight (including tow package, front grille & rear bumper guards, and optional lead foot) ...

- Orlie, Long Island, NY

I don't think that you can place heavy furniture's to that mobile anyway because it is less spacious.I think it is better to rent some movers to ship your furniture's and the less heavy furniture's can be with inside the car. Anyways I don't think your taking heavy furniture's if you are only going camping.
