This might open-up a can of worms, but there has
been a number of posts on disapointing gas mileage and
being able to sqweak-out 23 mpg hwy,
etc....

Here's my take/observation on the disappointing gas
mileage etc.... it's the transmission.

The
transmission???? Ford didn't build enough "coast" in the
transmission... it has some but it needs more for better fuel
economy.

How can you tell how much "coast" or engine drag is
built into the transmission? When you're at highway
speed shifting from Drive to Neutral (with no
accelerator) the car will roll faster (because of no engine
drag in Neutral vs. Drive.

With the Trib
putting it back in Drive will the slow the
vehicle...

What's the down-side of zero engine drag.... when going
down-hill the engine won't help slow the vehicle... it's
all brakes.

Some reviewers have noted this,
check www.carpoint.msn.com on the Chrysler minivans.
The complaint is they have no "engine drag" in drive.

Anyway that's my observation.....

Happy
Zoooming....
Greg
