I took my Trib in yesterday for a second attempt
at fixing the fuel odor. This was scheduled before
the famous Ford TSB being discussed was released and
of course my service guy (Mazda) knows nothing of
this TSB and won't check with Ford and says Ford and
Mazda don't seem to share info or communicate, blah,
blah, blah. At least they say they have some hotshot
Mazda technician coming in to do the repair from
somewhere.
Anyway, the vehicle Mazda has set me up with
while the Trib is in the hospital is an Enterprise
rental, a 2001 Jeep Cherokee with 900 miles on it (and no
fuel smell 8^P ). I have driven it about 200 miles and
can safely say I am glad I bought the Trib. The Trib
handles MUCH better a every speed, tracks better, about
the same noise level, looks better, seems to have
more power, feels tighter at all speeds. The Jeep has
a better quality interior and the shift lever where
it is supposed to be, on the console although I have
caught myself reaching for the column mounted shift
lever a number of times.
Well, I'm supposed to get
the Trib back by the end of the week so I will let
everyone know what was done and the results.
