Sorry just had to brag. I just got a SWEEEEET deal on a set of used Brainstorm Low Profile headlights for my '91, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

I hear installation is a little tough, but well worth the effort.

Also, does anyone have any experience with plexiglass (or a similar, paintable material)? I don't think these have the glare guards, and after strolling around Home Depot for a while, I was thinking of whipping up some quick ones.

Thanks!

Just installed my lights this weekend and WOW what a difference! I highly recommend these for anyone with the "Barn Door" type flip-up headlights. Installation is a lot easier than I expected, but be warned, they do take quite a bit of fine-tuning to get the lights aimed and the headlight covers aligned. Currently, I have 60w H3 bulbs in all 4 lights, but will probably upgrade to 100w bulbs in the high-beams.

I'm also working on a way to get them bolted in a bit more so they don't vibrate as much. When I figure it out, I'll be sure to pass on the info to whoever's interested.

Hey Dood,
It's good that the low profiles make you happy. However, probably because I've been a Miata owner for only a month, I love the barn doors. If I ever grow up and grow weary of sticking 'em up, I'll check in for your advice.

Keep it light(ed)!

I know what you're saying. I've always liked the looks of them, but always thought $329 was pretty expensive. I probably would have just kept dreaming (after 5 years of Miata ownership) if I hadn't gotten such a ridiculously amazing deal on the lights ($20!).

One thing you may want to think of is looking into converting your OEM 7" lights to H4 units. I think Hella makes them. Apparently, they're much brighter than the stock sealed units, and just screw into place like your OEM lights do.

How do you like your Miata so far? What kind do you have?

I have had my miata 2 years now and in the first few months wanted to change them but I am used to them now.

When one of the oem sealed units failed I got a pair of Mini(the car) units from Halfords (?7 each) here in the UK.

I have a 2000 Mazda Miata and am looking for a headlight halo conversion kit. Anyone know where I can find one? Or at least after market headlights?
