I been checking out Mazda's web site and others as well as the brochure. I am seeing conflicting info. Do they have the the power mirrors and rear window defroster or not? Maybe some of you happy owners can let me know before I go into this big time?

You have no need to worry. The ES has both power (side view) mirrors and a rear window defroster.

These aren't stripper SUVs... Did you get that impression from the DX you drove? I hope not.

Even my "stripper" DX came with the power mirrors and rear window defroster standard.

Power mirrors & rear window defroster are standard equipment on all models. However, last winter I did see a few DX models at a dealership with a line item credit for deleted power mirrors.

Thanks for the info. When I was test driving, I couldnt find the controls for the mirror and forgot all about looking for the defroster. Then once I got back to the dealership I forgot all about asking the salesman about those details.

The DX seemed real nice and I am looking forward to the ES.

After taking it for a test drive I now understand why they say "zoom zoom!"

If you look in the photo section of this forum, in the "Our Tribute Photos" album, there is a picture (#10) showing: Dash - left side. You will notice a black knob with 3 white marks above the knob. This is the power mirror control. Turn the knob to the left mark to control the left mirror, to the right mark to control the right mirror, & to the center mark to de-activate the control. Once you turn the knob to the desired position, the knob works like a joystick to control the mirror.

Your only half wrong. My Tribute DX-V6 came with the rear window defroster, but due to a production line shortage, I didn't get the power mirrors. Not a big deal since I am the only one driving my Trib and they don't vibrate either. But, I have to adjust them the old fashion way:
Finger on down power window switch and then take same greasy finger and place on mirror to adjust.

Hi RDKing,

I know you have gotten numerous responses to your question about the rear defroster/power window control but I just wanted to let you know that one reason you may not have noticed them during your test drive may be due to the placement of the controls.

In the 2001 tributes, the long shifter actually conceals the rear defrost button from view (of the driver) when it is in Drive. So when you look at the dash again-put the shifter in Drive and then look directly underneath the end of the shifter-the rear defroster is right beneath it.

The control knob for the power mirrors is on the lower part of the dash a few inches away from the steering column and is partially obscured from view by the steering wheel when the driver glances down.

Both of these observations are based on the height of the driver (I am 5'9) so they may or may not apply to you.

Although my statements may seem negative-rest assured I love my Tribute, these are little quirks that are to be expected in a first year of production vehicle and I have really gotten used to them in the 3 weeks that I have owned my Truffle! Another thing is if you are ordering a ES in July-are you sure you will actually receive a 2001? I have noticed some posts that 2001 production ended in late June and now 2002's are being built (hopefully with corrections to the little quirks that I mentioned before). I don't think any dealers have a 2002 on their lot as yet and are still selling their 2001 stock (mostly dx's).

Good luck to you and I hope you have a very short wait until your ES arrives...

Lily 11224

My 2003 LX came with heated mirrors and rear defrost....

but when it was involved in a hit and run, the driver side mirror was busted off and when I tried to get a "Mazda" heated mirror I couldn't find one anywhere. Everywhere claimed they didn't come heated!|
So I got a "Ford" one....that was identical.
