NE1 have advise on how to remove the factory radio and speakers?

Escape-central.com has a post stating the radio is ford-like and can be removed using the U tools. Any validity to this?

Do you have the single DIN CD player? If so, then I had to have 2 U tools.. The single DIN stereo is connected to the storage bin and they have to be removed together.
Don't know about the ES type stereos.. but I would think they just require 1 set of U tools.

I have a 4WD DX-V6 with the upgraded stereo (CD/Tape). It looks to be 2 DIN units. The problem is that I don't see the holes to put the U tools into. With Ford stereos, you can see the holes in the front of the radio.

I wish I had a Haynes manual to see how to get this thing apart.

I'm a noob. I just found the holes hidden behind plastic covers on both the cd/radio and the tape player. Oh well, at least they'er not in the open.

Now the question is do I need two sets of U tools, one for the cd/radio and one for the tape?
