Hi, i was wondering if anyone has tried to install an aftermarket air filter or intake into their Tribute? I did notice their was an air flow sensor on the air intake. Would an aftermarket air filter mess up the sensor due to more air flow?

An aftermarket air filter or air intake system wouldn't/shouldn't affect this. K&N (http://www.knfilter.com) makes an air filter for the Tribute/Escape -- same part #, 33-2187, for the 4-cyl and 6-cyl engines. Many vendors/merchants sell this item, including http://www.truckperformance.com/, but so far nobody has reported a significant, if only barely noticeable, improvement: performance, fuel efficiency, etc. I personally barely notice more pull when I punch the gas pedal while going over 60+mph.

There's an air intake from http://www.kustomz.com/cat2.html -- 'not sure how effective that is though, but an Escape owner installed this on his vehicle. Check out the Escape message boards for details and photos. (The said member is vincedia.)

'Hope this helps ...

You can put a K&N in just about anything.. One member once said that they tried and couldn't tell much of a diff. In my last car, I did notice some improvement in mileage, but not HP. I haven't found a local shop that carries them for the Trib/Esc yet but probably will buy one when I do.
This site: http://www.kustomz.com/cat2.html
offers a complete induction kit. It should be safe to assume that it would not mess anything up, but - who knows?
