after market speakers

i tried to install aftermarket 2way speakers in my doors and i'm not getting any treble just low distorted bass. the factory headset is pioneer and the speakers i bought are pioneer. does anyone know if the headunit has a built in device to compress the highs?

The same thing happened to me. It's not your deck or the speakers. It's actually a crossover on the firewall located on the outermost passenger side. One easy way to locate it is to remove the map pocket holder on the dash and turn your factory deck on and off a few times. You'll hear a light click, follow the sound to find it. It would also be a good idea to pull out the cd player, it's easy, only takes a minute or two. Match the wires from the back of the deck to the colors that are going into the crossover. There should be four wires and a positive, ground, and remote turn-on. You'll want to cut only the speaker wires before and after the crossover. (The colors of the wires will change on the output end of the crossover) Use 4 short pieces of wire and bypass the crossover. Then your door speakers should have high and low pass frequencies.
