my girlfriends kid has a 94 mazda protege' 1.8l dohc and the timing belt broke. i've been told it's a non interferencetype motor. well i put the new belt on it following information i found on the net. when i turn the motor over it doesn't even sound like it wants to start. and i just remembered, when i i was lining up the timing marks, the crank turned real easy. but im more accustomed to working on big block chevy engines. any one have a direction to point me in?

Thank you, Jon

To test it out the bottom sprocket should have made one full turn with no issues. If it kicks back it not timed right
