Our 2008 tribute"s power steering pump just failed at 86,000 miles. I've seen all the symptoms, problems, and the recall on the 3 and 5 series. Ours had the same symptoms; no power steering after shutting it off and re-starting, then after starting again worked fine, etc.
Anyone had problems with this on their Tribute?
The dealership says the Tribute has a completely different system than the 3's & 5's. Does anyone know if that's accurate? Even if it is, does the Tribute have the same power steering lines that were blamed for contaminents making the pumps fail?
We were about a week away from trading in for a new Tribute. If this has been a widespread problem, have they changed the system on the 2011's? This is our 3rd Mazda (the 1st two went over 200,000 mi. with no problems) and we were brand-loyal, but I don't want a new one if this hasn't been fixed. Thanks
