1992 Protege Lx Transmission Trouble

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: 29-November 10 Member No.: 6,133 Drives: 1992 protege Location: Ohio	I recently inherited this protégés from my father. The problem is that every once in a while the car will take off in second gear and won't shift to fourth. I can manually daownshift and get first but still cannot get Couture. This only happens about once a month. And my father once said it has been acting up for years. Does anyone have any ideas?
