Tino, my Tribute is getting the Ziebart treatment so no real zoomin' yet. I'm itching to write a report as soon as I am able to spend the time with her. The only thing that I would say now is that all the nit-picky complaints about this and that as posted here are very minor (gear shift)and personal. I haven't driven a car/truck yet that was perfectly designed for me in every way. The only thing that I seem to have a problem with is finding the correct seating adjustment. Being 6 ft and 200 lbs. shouldn't be a problem. I just have to "play" with the adjustments till I find the sweet spot.

No "fuel" smell which my nose was very alert for during the entire first 1/2 day it was in my possession. Just burning off of the new engine smell.

There was only one time I experienced wind noise. It was at 55mph in an open area with a cross wind. It did not seem to come from the mirrors but slightly above it. At this point I would say it is coming from the door seal around the "crest" just above the mirror. But only in a cross wind. As it was parked in the garage I eyed the "lines" of the door gaps from directly in front of driver's headlight. The door seam "crest" is somewhat forward exposed to the passing of air. This I think may be a reason for some of the wind noise. My ol' Ranger PU's door seam is not forward exposed like the Tribute's is but has wind noise all the time at +45mph. Perhaps any rush of air that runs perpendicular to this gap creates a "jug" effect. Just not as musical :-) More observation on my part is needed to come to a conclusion.

Engine and road noise are normal "IMO". But I do recall a test drive of an Escape in which the engine seemed noisier. But that test drive was last year so my memory may have faded.

I performed an inspection prior to taking delivery using the Escape Checklist. It took me almost an hour at a heady pace. Everything was perfect. Fit and finish is very good to excellent. With tire gauge in hand I lowered all 4's from 35psi to 30psi.

Before I get carried away, in the near future I will post a full review. At this point all I can say is she is more beautiful than I expected.

Tribby

stories like this are great to hear - i look forward to the full report. until then I will file this in my mind under "worth the wait" category.

BTW is the ziebart worth it? they used to go in the doors & everything. does this play havoc with the side air bags?

The reason I am having the full Ziebart rustproofing done with Sound Barrier is because of this report by our resident sound expert Mr. Tragedy:

http://www.xmission.com/~gargoyle/noise/noise.html

The other reason is a Tribute review many moons ago by Matt Joseph of the Sat. morning radio show All About Cars; http://www.wtdy.com/allaboutcars.htm In which he strongly recommends undercoating for this vehicle.

Since the full rusproofing treatment is not all that much more cost than just undercoating and it includes a full lifetime warranty (which the undercoating alone does not) I opted to go with the full Ziebart Monty.

Oh BTW, the US Postal Service uses Ziebart undercoating on all their little Grumman aluminum mail delivery jeeps around here.

Good enough for me,
Tribby

Where can we find the Escape checklist that you used prior to taking delivery of your Tribute?
